UP panchayat poll: Agra records voter turnout of about 65%
India TodayThe first round of the four-phase Uttar Pradesh panchayat election was held on Thursday. The UP gram panchayat election concluded in Agra on Thursday with a record voter turnout of about 65 per cent. The Gram Panchayats in 31 police station areas of Agra zone went to the polls on Thursday with police keeping a strict vigil to avoid any untoward incident. ADG Zone Agra Rajiv Krishna, IG Range Naveen Arora, DM Prabhu N Singh and SSP Muniraj visited the polling booths in the rural areas and told India Today TV that the rural areas were divided into two zones with four mobile teams deputed at every police station area.
