BJP demands judicial inquiry into lathi charge at Bihar, says it is State-sponsored violence
The HinduBJP leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Saturday demanded a judicial inquiry into a police lathi charge in Bihar that allegedly led to the death of party general secretary of Jehanabad district, Vijay Kumar Singh, during a protest march two days ago. “After the probe, I can say that the lathi charge was State- Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra and District Magistrate Chandrasekhar Singh have rejected the claim of BJP leaders that Mr. Singh died in the lathi charge. Rashtriya Janata Dal national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Manoj Jha said that the BJP was drawing political mileage from the death of Mr. Singh. Those discussing the lathi charge should also discuss the sack of chilli powder carried during the march,” Mr. Jha said.
