Kiama diver Scott Gutterson forms friendship with octopus in rock pool
ABCScott Gutterson has dived with sharks, explored the depths of the famous Kiama Blowhole and even found a message in a bottle in the ocean, but he had never befriended an animal with eight arms. "It was March 10 when I first saw her in the rock pool and I've been observing her ever since," he told ABC Illawarra Breakfast presenter Melinda James. Mr Gutterson said a tap with a finger on a nearby rock could grab an octopus's attention. As the eggs draw closer to hatching, the adult octopus will starve itself and waste away, meaning Mr Gutterson's relationship with Roxy is also drawing to a close. "I missed the hatching of the eggs by a day, but I've loved sitting there and observing her become a mum," Mr Gutterson said.
