In battle of two billionaires, Indian taxpayer bleeding Rs 2.5 lakh per minute

India Today

A battle over two billionaires -- Gautam Adani and George Soros -- has led to a washout of the winter session of Parliament. In 2012, then Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Bansal put the cost of parliamentary disruption at Rs 2.5 lakh per minute. Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Wednesday said the Opposition's aim was for the Lok Sabha to function. The Indian Express had on December 2 reported on the unhappiness among Congress Lok Sabha MPs about the leadership sticking with the Adani issue. One of the half a dozen Congress MPs the newspaper spoke to said the Lok Sabha members felt "accountable" to their voters while the "Rajya Sabha MPs weren't answerable to the voters".
