Veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews was left “shocked” at his team playing just four Tests in 2025, especially at a time when their fortunes appeared to be on the rise in the red-ball, five-day format. South Africa, the first team to confirm their place in this year’s final at Lord’s with a thrilling victory over Pakistan in Centurion recently, will be playing a total of four Tests in the remainder of 2025– two each in Pakistan and India in October and November respectively.
