HarmonyOS announced by Huawei for connected devices and smartphones

Huawei at its Developer Conference on Friday announced HarmonyOS, its newest operating system that also goes by the name HongmengOS in China. HarmonyOS was rumoured to replace Android in Huawei and Honor smartphones, but the company confirmed that it will still rely on Google's operating system, at least for now. Huawei has been working on its in-house HarmonyOS for a few years now as a fall back in case US blocked the company's access to Google's Android OS. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, said at HDC 2019 that HarmonyOS is ready to run on smartphones, but the company will still rely on Android for now.
