NDA govt. committed to protecting Kolleru lake: JSP MLC
The HinduVIJAYAWADA Jana Sena Party MLC and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan’s political secretary P. Hari Prasad asserted that the NDA government in the State was committed to protecting Kolleru lake, and blamed the reckless manner in which former CMs Y.S. Mr. Prasad stated in a press release that the Kolleru lake embankments were blown up by explosives during the YSR regime in the name of Operation Kolleru that took place in 2006, and several things happened in the subsequent years including the delivery of a flurry of judgements by the High Court and the Supreme Court, which the governments had to comply with. He said the 10th contour area of Kolleru lake spans 2,25,250 acres and the fifth one 77,138 acres. The YSRCP government of 2019-24 never thought about the people dependent on Kolleru lake for their livelihoods and Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy promised to construct four special regulators at a cost of ₹410 crore but did not allocate a single rupee for the same.
