Sabari protests surprised Teesta

Thrissur: Social activist Teesta Setalvad has expressed surprise over the protests held in Kerala, a model state in education and progress, against the Supreme Court verdict on the Sabarimala issue. “Such protests while people in other states look up to Kerala for its achievements in education and progressive movements surprised me,” she said. Teesta, who fought against Mr Narendra Modi after the Godhra train burning incident and Gujarat riots in 2002, said that the 2019 general elections were crucial for the country and that Mr Modi needed to be voted out of power at any cost. “Other than the propaganda claiming big achievements, the NDA government has not addressed the issue of minimum wages for unorganised workers, farmers’ unrest across the country and the issue of SC/STs,” she noted.
