COVID is coming — but what will an outbreak mean for the South Australian public?

ABC

As South Australia edges closer towards its November 23 deadline for repealing border restrictions, more detail has been released on how COVID-19 cases will be managed, and how the public will be affected. Health authorities including Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier have repeatedly referred to the spread of the virus as being "inevitable" when double-vaccinated travellers are allowed back into SA without having to quarantine. "If you are sitting and dining with someone for more than 15 minutes, within one-and-a-half metres, yes, you are going to be a close contact whether you're vaccinated or unvaccinated," Mr Marshall. After completing their quarantine, vaccinated close contacts can return to work — with various conditions, including avoiding contact with vulnerable people — provided they have had a negative day six test. According to SA Health, it is someone who has had non-physical contact with a positive case at a "significant distance for a very short amount of time".
