The Organized Autotelescopes for Serendipitous Event Survey project and Planetary Observation Camera for Optical Transient Surveys system, both amateur astronomy groups, first reported the event on social media platform X. The MASA Planetary Log, an account run by a space enthusiast, later shared footage of a brief flash of light emanating from Jupiter, indicative of a comet or asteroid impact. WATCH JUPITER GETS HIT An independent observation confirming the event was also made by a Chinese amateur astronomer in Zhengzhou, Henan province.
