Angry Birds Claws Its Way Into Every Device You Own

If you want to see the future of videogames, do what I did: Go to Walgreens for a bag of ice. The toy, too, will be Angry Birds—a real-life version of the mobile game in which you fling plastic birds at a tower of plastic blocks. Not since the time of tokens has there been a single game that ruled the zeitgeist like Angry Birds does—everyone has played it, and it’s plastered on everything from toys to food. The tie-in game Angry Birds Star Wars is probably introducing more kids to Star Wars than J.J. Abrams will. Smartphone gaming’s meteoric rise isn’t best measured in dollars, or even Zynga acquisitions, but in Angry Birds wool caps.
