All Deserving People will Get Ration Cards: Uttam
Deccan ChronicleHyderabad: Civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday dismissed any concern over the issuing of ration cards and said all eligible persons would receive them. Issuing ration cards is a continuous process, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, adding “The process will not stop until cards are given to all those who have applied for them. Anyone who finds their names missing list can apply for one in their gram sabhas, to be held from January 21 to 24.” He said the issue of ration cards was put on the back burner during the BRS regime, which had resulted in 12,07,558 applications applications pending with the Mee Seva. The government said one of the aims of the new exercise was to arrest the abuse of ration cards and prevent diversion of rice supplied through the public distribution system.
