The lawyer for a man who police allege murdered a young woman at a beach in Far North Queensland says 500 witness statements have been taken ahead of his trial. Key points: Rajwinder Singh is likely to face trial in Cairns next year over the alleged murder of Toyah Cordingley Mr Singh has not entered a plea to the charge but has maintained his innocence A court has heard up to 500 witness statements have been taken Rajwinder Singh, 38, was charged in April with the alleged murder of 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley at Wangetti Beach, north of Cairns, five years ago. Mr Singh's lawyer, Nick Dole, told the court that there were 500 witness statements. Police said she had done some shopping at Rusty's Markets before picking up her dog, Indie, and drove to Wangetti Beach, a 40-minute drive north of Cairns, on October 21, 2018.
