Mumbai court grants bail to man accused of rape in live-in relationship
India TodayThe Dindoshi Sessions Court in Mumbai granted bail to a man who had been accused of rape by his live-in partner. After going through the details of the case, the judge said, "Irrespective of the 'no-objection' given by the woman in her own affidavit, the factual matrix unveiled in the FIR ipso facto reveals that the relationship was consensual, for the simple reason that the woman stated residing with the man continuously even without getting married to him." According to the FIR registered at Vile Parle police station, the man had promised to marry the woman, following which they started living together in a rented apartment. During the course of the bail hearing, the man told the court that the woman had given a no-objection to bail by filing an affidavit.
