SEBI releases new regulatory framework for Specialized Investment Funds: How will this impact investors?

Markets watchdog Sebi on Thursday came out with a regulatory framework for Specialized Investment Funds requiring a minimum investment of ₹10 lakh across all strategies. The Route 1 requires the mutual fund to have been in operation for at least three years with an average Asset Under Management of at least ₹10,000 crore over the last three years. The alternate route requires the AMC to appoint a Chief Investment Officer for the SIF, who has at least 10 years of fund management experience and has managed an average AUM of at least ₹5,000 crore. It must also appoint an additional Fund Manager with at least three years of fund management experience and an average AUM of at least ₹500 crore.
