Through practising disability pride, I've learnt there's nothing wrong with me and I don't have to accept discrimination

No-one expects to go to the supermarket and face harassment. Through this community I learnt about disability pride, a movement that was changing the way disabled people viewed themselves and their place in the world. The disability rights movement began in the US and the first disability pride parade was held in Boston in 1990. Moving overseas helped spark a change in how Elizabeth Wright felt about disability pride. And though the disability pride movement might not be as well known here as it is overseas, it has made itself present over the years, especially through activists like Stella Young.
