Oklahoma education chief vows to 'absolutely' penalize schools not showing Trump prayer
Raw StoryOklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters insisted he would "absolutely" penalize schools that don't show a video of him praying for President-elect Donald Trump. "And so listen, rogue superintendents that have been pushing books like Genderqueer and Flamer on kids, so they want to include pornography, but they don't want to include the Bible and they don't want to allow a prayer, we're not going to tolerate it here in the state of Oklahoma," he continued. Oklahoma's Attorney General's Office has said that Walters does not have the authority to punish schools that do not show the Trump prayer. "Not only is this edict unenforceable, it is contrary to parents' rights, local control and individual free-exercise rights," spokesperson Phil Bacharach noted last week.
