CBSE cuts Class 10, 12 syllabus by 15%, gives 40% priority to internal assessment

The Central Board for Secondary Education Board has decided to reduce pressure on Class 10 and Class 12 students by reducing the syllabus by 15 percent. 40-60 FORMULA AND TWO-TERM EXAM STRUCTURE Under the newly introduced evaluation structure, internal assessments will play a greater role in determining a student’s final grade, now accounting for 40 percent. While the current single-term exam format will remain in place for Classes 10 and 12 during the 2025 academic session, CBSE plans to introduce a two-term examination structure starting in the 2025-26 academic year. OTHER UPDATES Looking ahead, CBSE has confirmed that a single board exam will remain in place for Classes 10 and 12 in the 2024-25 academic session. By implementing two-term exams from 2026 onwards, students will have more opportunities to demonstrate their academic progress, while CBSE works to finalise the practical details of this new system.
