Stakeholders' role key to juvenile justice: Justice Koshy

HYDERABAD: Justice P. Sam Koshy of the Telangana High Court, who is the executive chairman of the TS Legal Services Authority. on Monday said that the objectives of the Juvenile Justice Act can be effectively accomplished if there is regular coordination between the line departments and stakeholders. Addressing a day-long training programme, ‘Concept and the challenges involved in juvenile justice,’ organised by the TSLSA at the Judicial Academy here on Monday, Justice Koshy said that the state government and the Centre, and Unicef were taking steps for the effective implementation of juvenile justice laws. High Court judge Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili emphasised the need to provide playgrounds in schools and to teach moral values to children apart from having an exclusive helpline for children in distress. Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar, chairman of the Juvenile Justice Board, stated that the JJ Act was designed to provide fair, reformative and rehabilitative measures to juveniles.
