Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg wields excessive power, former colleague says
ABCFacebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has too much control over the company and lacks accountability, according to one of his former senior executives. The social media company also needs to take "more responsibility" for its "negative effects" on the world to regain the public's trust, said Stephen Scheeler — who led Facebook's Australian and New Zealand office from 2013–17. "I know Mark … I have huge respect, and I do think he's a great leader," Mr Scheeler told the ABC. " Like any major player in the technology sector, Mr Scheeler is against the idea of governments breaking up major companies Facebook, Google and Amazon for being "too powerful". "Right now, it's just a little too soon … too raw, too fresh — and Facebook is not trusted enough to be the one that leads the charge."
