Saffron makeover of green wall in Pune by BJP MP sparks political row

India Today

A fresh political row erupted in Pune after a BJP MP, along with some other party workers, painted a green wall in saffron colour in the city. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni, who painted the wall saffron, said that walls in the city should not be deliberately painted green, a colour she suggested could carry contentious connotations. Explaining her decision, Kulkarni further said, "We removed the green colour and painted the wall saffron to symbolise Hindu pride. "Did the BJP workers in Pune or Medha Kulkarni show the same concern for issues like women's safety as they did for painting a wall?"
