
Kalaburagi to Host Vachana Mantapa, a Symbol of Basava Philosophy
Deccan ChronicleKalaburagi is set to witness the creation of ‘Vachana Mantapa,’ a landmark initiative dedicated to promoting the philosophy of 12th-century social reformer Basavanna. Designed as a hub for learning and discourse, the Mantapa aims to serve as a center where scholars, thinkers, and followers can engage with the principles of social justice, equality, and progressive thought.Announcing the project on social media, Karnataka’s IT-BT, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge, who is also in charge of Kalaburagi district, emphasized its significance. "The Vachana Mantapa will not only be a place of learning and discussion but also a symbol of Karnataka’s rich spiritual and philosophical heritage," he stated.Kharge further elaborated that the initiative is envisioned as a space to study and reflect upon the ideals of Sharana Vachanas, which emphasize equality, inclusivity, and moral integrity. “This initiative will serve as a guiding light for those who wish to understand and implement progressive thought,” he added.Kharge also shared three conceptual designs of the proposed project, inviting public opinion on social media by asking, “By the way, which one do you like?”
