Srisailam’s stablity is under question

KURNOOL: With Srisailam reservoir all set to reach full capacity, the question on its structural stability has been raised again. Srisailam dam superintendent engineer M. Sreenivas Reddy said all repairs to the dam had been carried on as per the suggestions given by the National Institute of Oceano-graphy at Goa which had conducted a detailed study of the dam. With regard to the ‘plunge pool’ that is formed by water falling from a height, Mr Reddy said the NIO had videorecorded the formation. It may be recalled that Srisailam dam, which is designated as a dam of national importance, was reviewed by National Committee on Dam Safety on February 12, 2019.
