Through Vision 2047, the state aims to achieve development beyond considerations of caste and religion, he said while participating in the 'Amara Jeevi Potti Sriramulu Atmarpana Dinotsavam at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here. Sriramulu was a pivotal figure in the establishment of linguistically-based states and was a leader for the entire Andhra race, not just of a particular community or caste.” “The best tribute we can pay to Potti Sriramulu is to achieve comprehensive development of Andhra Pradesh, making it advance towards a 2.2 trillion dollar economy.” He remarked, “Potti Sriramulu’s greatness became evident after the bifurcation of the state. He is not merely a leader for one caste or community but a leader respected across the country.” Sriramulu sacrificed his life for the self-respect and existence of the Telugu people, especially during a time when the country was divided along communal lines and the establishment of linguistically based states was opposed by the national leadership under first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.” “While Potti Sriramulu dreamed of a state for the Andhras, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao fought for the self-respect of the Telugu people.
