OBC temple staffer reassigned, Kerala human rights body orders probe

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of an alleged caste discrimination incident at a temple in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur. The commission has directed the Cochin Devaswom Commissioner and the Koodalmanikyam temple Executive Officer to conduct an investigation and submit a report within two weeks. He was given the role after clearing the Kerala Devaswom Recruitment Board exam, and was responsible for temple-related work like garland-making. Koodalmanikyam Devaswom Board Chairman CK Gopi stated that action would be taken if caste discrimination is established.
