A 43-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his 17-year-old daughter to death in a case of suspected honour killing in Ganjam district of Odisha. Odisha Police found the body of the victim on September 19 near Gunduribadi village under Sorada police station jurisdiction. The girl went missing from Gunduribadi village on August 25 and her father thought she had eloped with a boy of another caste. The girl's father and uncle asked her repeatedly to disclose the identity of the person she had eloped with, but she refused to reveal anything. Police suspected foul play after the father did not file a missing complaint when his daughter was missing but lodged an FIR that she was killed by unidentified men only after the body was identified.
