
BMTC collects over Rs 19 lakh in penalties from 10,000 passengers in 3 months
India TodayThe Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation has collected over Rs 19 lakh in penalties from passengers for violations in the past three months, officials announced on Thursday. A total of 10,069 passengers were penalised for travelling without tickets and occupying seats exclusively reserved for ladies between August and October 2024. BMTC fined these passengers a total of Rs 1,17,800, following the Karnataka Motor Vehicle Rules under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. BMTC officials said, “In total, the corporation collected Rs 19,13,830 in penalties from these offences over the last three months, demonstrating a strong enforcement of its rules to ensure smoother operations and better compliance on the city’s buses.” Published By: Afreen Published On: Nov 28, 2024
