Five children die at children’s home; food poisoning suspected in four cases
The HinduAt least five children died and 30 more fell ill at a children’s home in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, over the past three days, district officials said on July 2. Indore District Magistrate Asheesh Singh said that the food was prepared in the kitchen of the children’s home and samples have been collected and sent for examination to the government laboratory in Bhopal as well as to a private lab. Vomiting, seizures “Out of five deaths, the symptoms of four were different from the remaining child,” Mr. Singh said, adding that four children suffered vomiting and diarrhoea, while the child who died on June 30 had seizures. The action came after a video showing Mr. Badkul and the manager of the children’s home, Anita Sharma, laughing during an inspection after the deaths went viral on the internet.
