Why is DMK govt. silent on murder of Pudukottai activist, asks DMDK leader
The HinduDesiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Premalatha Vijayakant on Friday wondered why the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government, which claimed to protect the minorities, had remained silent on the murder of Pudukottai activist Jagaber Ali. Stalin, his cabinet colleagues or DMK MLAs had not even condoled the murder of Jagaber Ali who had petitioned the officials on illegal stone quarrying in Pudukottai district, Ms. Premalatha said. The DMK government’s silence on the murder had only triggered suspicion among the public, Ms. Premalatha said and urged Mr. Stalin to sanction ₹1 crore as compensation to the victim’s family. Had the Chief Minister come out with a statement that truth would be brought out in the case and due punishment would be given to those involved in the murder, it would have instilled confidence in the minds of the public about the government, Ms. Premalatha said.
