The interim vice-chancellor of the University of Canberra Stephen Parker has resigned. An email from UC chancellor Lisa Paul to staff said the draft 2025 budget was now with the university council for consideration, and despite the council's preference he stay on, they had agreed to Professor Parker's resignation from today. "Despite the university's preference that Professor Parker stay on for a few more weeks to work collaboratively with the council to finalise the budget process, he asked to depart immediately, as he had lost confidence in council," she said. Union calls for government review of UC governance National Tertiary Education Union ACT secretary Lachlan Clohesy says the announcement shows a government review into UC's governance should be prioritised. "The union's been raising governance issues at the University of Canberra for some time, and this certainly vindicates that," he said.
