Revealed: This is how hackers take over popular YouTube channels

India Today

Have you ever stumbled upon a YouTube livestream apparently broadcasting Elon Musk’s Bitcoin predictions or Jeff Bezos promising to double your crypto investments? Whether it’s BeerBiceps, Elvish Vlogs, Wanderers Hub, or even the official YouTube account of the Supreme Court of India — this hacking trend follows the same pattern. As per the report, this campaign has targeted over 2 lakh YouTube creators, involving 500-1,000 phishing emails sent from a single email account. In another major hacking spree in 2022, a hacker identified as @LOSPELAOSBRO on Twitter targeted the YouTube channels of several high-profile singers and artists, including Justin Bieber, Drake, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Kanye West, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Lil Nas X, and even the late Michael Jackson. Several prominent Indian YouTube accounts, including those of Tanmay Bhatt, BeerBiceps, Prerna Malhan, the Supreme Court, Barkha Dutt, and channels such as Dattrax Gaming, Badmash Icon, Himanshu Sharma, Thugesh, Crazy XYZ, YouTube India Spotlight, BeastBoyShub, Fing, Shaurya Kamal, Elvish Yadav Vlogs, Kal Ka Londa, and CarryMinati’s CarryIsLive, were recently targeted and hacked in a series of cyberattacks following a similar pattern.
