After Priyanka Gandhi, BJP MP makes a statement with '1984' bag
India TodayDays after Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi made a political statement in Parliament by carrying bags featuring motifs of Palestine and Bangladesh, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi on Friday gifted Gandhi a bag with ‘1984’, written on it, referencing the year of the anti-Sikh riots. The Nanavati Commission, appointed to investigate the riots, concluded that Congress leaders including top figures Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar HKL Bhagat, were responsible for the riots. On December 16, Priyanka Gandhi turned up in Parliament with a bag emblazoned with "Palestine" on it, along with other Palestinian symbols, including a watermelon, a long-recognised motif of resistance in the region, as well as a pattern of keffiyeh, a Palestinian stole. "She did not speak a word on atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh but wants to make a fashion statement with the Palestine bag," BJP MP and Anurag Thakur said.
