Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency faces delays as CBFC requests cuts before certification
The HinduThe Central Board of Film Certification on Thursday told the Bombay High Court that actor-politician Kangana Ranaut’s movie, Emergency will get a certificate only after the makers of the film make required cuts as suggested by the Revising Committee. A Division Bench of Justices comprising, B.P Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla asked the CBFC representative, advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, “Please give us some good news.” Mr. Chandrachud said, “CBFC’s revising committee has suggested certain cuts in the film. If the same are made, the film can be released.” Appearing for Zee Entertainment Enterprises, senior counsel Sharan Jagtiani appealed to the Bench to adjourn the hearing to decide whether the cuts can be made based on the suggestions of the CBFC’s revising committee or not. In the last hearing on September 19, the makers of the film informed the Bench that Ms. Ranaut, who is a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Mandi since June 2024 is facing difficulties at the behest of the Bharatiya Janta Party itself.
