Li chasing her WNBA dream with Mystics tryout

Chinese national team forward Li Meng has signed a preseason deal with WNBA outfit the Washington Mystics. Supported by the agency of her idol LeBron James, Chinese national team star Li Meng has taken a step toward realizing her WNBA dream after securing a preseason training camp spot with the Washington Mystics. "Li Meng is the premier scorer for the Chinese national team — an outstanding perimeter player who has the ability to stretch the floor with her excellent 3-point shooting," Mystics general manager Mike Thibault said in a statement released on the team's website. During the best-of-three WCBA finals last week, Li averaged 21.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and a team-high 8.7 assists to help Sichuan Yuanda beat Inner Mongolia Nongxin, 2-1, to claim the franchise's first domestic league title.
