Sydney racism row: ICC condemns 'discrimination' against Mohammed Siraj, backs Cricket Australia's investigation
India TodayIn light of the racial taunt directed at Mohammed Siraj by a part of the Sydney crowd, during the 3rd Test match between India and Australia, the International Cricket Council has released a statement offering support to Cricket Australia in its investigation of the incidents that took place on Day 3 and Day 4 at the SCG. Team India reported the crowd behaviour to Match referee David Boon on Day 3 of the 3rd Test, when the first instance of racial abuse took place. The governing council has “strongly condemned” the incidents and the ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney has recapitulated their “zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination of any kind”. “We will provide Cricket Australia and the relevant authorities with our full support in any ensuing investigation as we will not tolerate any racism in our sport,” the statement released by the ICC, on Sunday, read.
