State of the Union: President Trump's full speech

On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump delivered his first State of the Union speech to Congress. Below is the full speech, via the White House: Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and my fellow Americans: Less than one year has passed since I first stood at this podium, in this majestic chamber, to speak on behalf of the American people and to address their concerns, their hopes, and their dreams. So, tonight, I call on Congress to empower every Cabinet Secretary with the authority to reward good workers and to remove federal employees who undermine the public trust or fail the American people. Now let's get Congress to send you -- and all of the people in this great chamber have to do it; we have no choice. It's time to begin moving towards a merit-based immigration system, one that admits people who are skilled, who want to work, who will contribute to our society, and who will love and respect our country.
