YouTube terminates over 400 channels after reports of child exploitation
YouTube has terminated more than 400 channels and disabled comments on tens of millions of videos on its platform following reports that videos on its platform were being used for exploiting children. ".In the last 48 hours, beyond our normal protections we've disabled comments on tens of millions of videos, We've also terminated over 400 channels for the comments they left on videos, and reported illegal comments to law enforcement," YouTube told blogger Philip DeFranco. The action comes in response to companies including Walt Disney and Nestle pulling their ads from YouTube's platform following reports that comments in their videos were being used to facilitate a "soft-core paedophile ring." The decision to halt advertising on YouTube by the companies came after a YouTube creator Matt Watson in a 20-minute long video detailed how comments in YouTube videos of children, particularly that of young girls, were being used to facilitate a network of what he described as a "soft-core pedophile ring".
