Chennai doctor held for girlfriend’s death, attempted cover up

A 34-year-old homeopathy doctor, Samuel Ebenezer Sampath, was arrested by Chennai police on Friday for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Cynthia, 37, and attempting to cover up the incident. The tragedy occurred nearly three months ago in their rented flat in Thirumullaivayal, where the doctor reportedly caused Cynthia's death following an argument, before fleeing the scene and leaving behind a gruesome cover-up attempt. According to the police, the incident occurred after a quarrel between Ebenezer and Cynthia over the treatment provided to her father, 78-year-old Samuel Shankar, who had moved in with the couple to undergo dialysis. The police confirmed that an autopsy revealed Cynthia died from head injuries, while Samuel Shankar passed away due to natural causes.
