Puducherry BJP leaders brief high command of political situation in Union Territory
The HinduThe BJP leadership at the Centre held discussions with party leaders in Puducherry on the progress made in the organisational election and latest political situation in the Union Territory. Home Minister A. Namassivayam, BJP president V. Selvaganabathy and party in-charge for the Union Territory Nirmal Kumar Surana were in New Delhi for the last two days at the invitation of party top brass. The three leaders met national general secretary B. L. Santhosh and other leaders, separately, to brief them about organisational elections and the latest political developments, including the recent events organised by party legislators and the Independent MLAs supporting the ruling National Democratic Alliance government in Puducherry, a senior BJP leader told The Hindu. In the recent days, a controversy had erupted in Puducherry after three BJP legislators A. John Kumar, his son Richards John Kumar and P. M. L. Kalyanasundaram and three Independents M. Sivasankar, P. Angalane and Gollapalli Srinivas Ashok organised ‘charity events’ with financial assistance from businessman Charles Jose Martin, son of lottery baron Satiago Martin who was under the lens of the Enforcement Directorate.
