Rail users ask for deployment of modern LHB coaches in three express trains
The HinduRail users in Tiruchi Railway Division have made a strong pitch for replacement of old and conventional ICF coaches with Linke Hofmann Busch coaches in Karaikal-Ernakulam-Karaikal; Karaikal-Tambaram-Karaikal, and Thanjavur-Chennai-Thanjavur Uzhavan Express trains. The daily inter-State Karaikal-Ernakulam-Karaikal Express operated via Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Karur, Erode, Coimbatore; the Karaikal-Tambaram-Karaikal Express that runs via Tiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai and the Thanjavur-Chennai-Thanjavur Uzhavan Express via Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai run with high occupancy in both directions, say rail users in the division. The three trains have old ICF coaches which need to be replaced, said S. Mohan, president, Nagore Nagapattinam Rail Users’ Association. Deployment of LHB coaches in the three trains was needed as the they run with high occupancy, said A. Giri, a resident of Kumbakonam and a former member of the Tiruchi Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee.
