Kochi Corpn. lags behind in Plan fund utilisation

The Kochi Corporation ranks fifth among the six municipal corporations in the State in Plan fund utilisation, with just 43.80% spent and only a month remaining in the 2024-25 financial year, according to the Local Self-Government department’s dashboard as of Wednesday. Mr. Anilkumar further claimed that the Corporation, which had never ranked among the top three in fund utilisation in its history, secured the top position for the first time during the current council’s tenure and twice achieved second place. Aristotle, UDF parliamentary party secretary, said the Mayor’s prediction of raising fund utilisation to 90% seemed far-fetched, given that only a month remained in the fiscal year. “The Mayor’s claim that the expenditure percentage may eventually rise through loan repayments will not contribute to the city’s development in critical areas like transportation, flood control, services, and infrastructure,” he said.
