Why SP leader's discordant note on Uddhav Sena is fresh sign of fissures in MVA
India TodayThe Samajwadi Party has struck a discordant note over what seems to be the impending return of the Shiv Sena to hardline Hindutva, indicating fissures in the Maha Vikas Aghadi after its washout in the Maharashtra assembly election. On December 6, Milind Narvekar, the Shiv Sena MLC and personal assistant of party president Uddhav Thackeray, posted on X a remark celebrating the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992. “This is communalism,” said Azmi, who has been elected for a fourth term to the legislative assembly from Mankhurd-Shivajinagar in Mumbai, adding that it all made the SP’s continuation in the MVA untenable. Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray, without naming Azmi or the SP, said some had not worked for the Shiv Sena nominees in the state elections due to the fear of central investigative agencies.
