Muslim parties accuse Ayodhya mediation panel of leaking info, say no settlement reached
India TodayThe Muslim parties in the Ayodhya land dispute has brought a fresh twist to the case on Friday morning and said that they are taken aback at the reports claiming that the Sunni Waqf Board is willing to withdraw its claim on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi site. In a statement issued by lawyer Ejaz Maqbool, the Muslim parties has accused the Supreme Court-appointed mediation panel of leaking information from the mediation report that was submitted to the SC bench during the hearing. Advocate Eijaz Maqbool, who represented key Muslim litigant M Siddiq in the Ayodhya land dispute, said all Muslim parties, except the Sunni Waqf Board, have rejected settlement as the main Hindu parties to the dispute were not part of the mediation process and its purported settlement. The Muslim parties, except the Sunni Waqf Board, issued a clarificatory statement to say they don't accept the Supreme Court appointed mediation panel's proposal on the purported settlement to amicably resolve the Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid land dispute. The Supreme Court-appointed mediation panel to resolve the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya had filed a report in the apex court on Wednesday in a sealed cover which sources said is a "sort of a settlement" between the Hindu and the Muslim parties.
