This neighbourly gesture led to forever friendship

"This is going to make me cry," says Kym Gardner when I ask how her friendship with Alison Potter began. Alison wrote to us as part of the ABC's Kindness Hero campaign, nominating her friend for being "instrumental" in her life — particularly during her divorce. Kym's generosity, whether it was dropping around baked goods or helping around the house, was an adjustment for Alison who says she wasn't used to that level of kindness. "So many times I said, 'You've done enough, it's fine', and she just kept coming back."
