There's an important thread missing from the abortion conversation

Abortion is on the election agenda, thanks to a bold policy move from Labor. But Australia's uptake is far lower than other OECD countries and in an attempt to change that, Ms Plibersek said a future Labor government would review the Medicare rebate for LARCs. "We need to look at training, we need to look at nurses, in many countries nurses insert IUDs and implants and that's supported by Government policy," she said. "LARCs are recommended in the UK, US and Australia as first-line contraceptives for nulliparous women ; however, misperceptions held by health practitioners may be contributing to the low uptake of these methods." When asked about Labor's abortion policy, Prime Minister Scott Morrison accused the Opposition of seeking to "divide Australians" and said he wouldn't engage in the "political elements" of the discussion.
