Collector inspects development works in Thisaiyanvilai taluk
The HinduCollector R. Sukumar reviewed the progress of development works being implemented in Thisaiyanvilai taluk on Wednesday and Thursday as part of ‘Ungalai Thedi Ungal Ooril’ programme. He asked the officials concerned to renovate the structure without altering its heritage value since the British missionary and linguist had authored ‘Comparative grammar of Dravidian languages’ during his stay in this very building. As the construction of groyne and fish landing centre in Kooduthaazhai village is going on at a cost of ₹15 crore to protect the hamlet from sea erosion, he inspected the site measuring about four acres chosen for the construction of Government Industrial Training Institute at Kuttam. As the district has set the target of increasing the quantity of milk being procured by Aavin from dairy farmers from the existing 32,000 litres to 70,000 litres, the Collector during his visit to the villages, appealed to the milk producers to form milk cooperative societies in their villages and supply milk to Aavin.
