IOWA CITY, Iowa — Outside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday morning, the statue of famed wrestling coach Dan Gable stands with one fist extended outward and the other raised as the snow falls all around. In Iowa’s three primary winter sports, the Hawkeyes had three Big Ten athletes of the year. On Iowa’s path toward its first wrestling national title in 10 years, nothing had stopped the top-ranked Hawkeyes. Iowa’s final home event in the 2019-20 sports season took place Wednesday at Duane Banks Field, with the baseball team finishing a two-game sweep of Kansas. Garza averaged 23.9 points overall and 26.2 points in league games, the best for a Big Ten player since Purdue’s Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson in 1994.
