Go First vs P&W: Are engine issues really behind airline's financial crisis?
US engine maker Pratt & Whitney is set to oppose cash-strapped Go First’s push to enforce an arbitration ruling against it for the supply of spare engines, according to a court filing. Go First went on to say that half of its fleet of 54 Airbus A320neos was grounded due to P&W’s faulty engines, which led to huge losses for the airline. Reacting to Go First’s statement, P&W said in a statement that it was “committed to the success of our airline customers, and we continue to prioritise delivery scheduled for all customers”. Not just Go First but India’s largest carrier in terms of passenger volume, IndiGo, is also facing a similar problem with P&W engines for some of its fleet.
