AP gets set to deal with HMPV; health minister holds review meet
Deccan ChronicleVijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has geared up its machinery to deal with the HMPV and set up an expert committee to assist the government in managing the likely health crisis. Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav held a meeting with the health special chief secretary Krishna Babu and other senior officials here on Monday to take stock of the present situation. Upon a review of the required drugs for treatment of HMPV-related illness, the officials sought sufficient quantity of drugs and procurement of specialised drugs like Ribavirin locally till such stocks are supplied by APMSIDC. The heads of the health wings would closely monitor the case of severe acute respiratory infections and influenza like infection cases that are reported in government and private hospitals, and assess the trends keeping in view such cases in previous years.
