IIT Delhi transfers lightweight bulletproof jacket technology to 3 Indian firms
India TodayThe technology of the Advanced Ballistics for High Energy Defeat bulletproof jacket, which was developed by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi along with Defence Research and Development Organisation, was transferred to three companies. The technology of the lightweight jacket, which weighs at least 30 per cent less than the usual bulletproof jacket at 9 kg, was transferred to Midhani, SMPP Pvt Ltd, and AR Polymers. KEY FEATURES Revolutionary ballistic plates The bulletproof jacket stands out for its state-of-the-art ballistic plates, made from advanced composite materials. The jacket features a modular design for tailored protection that includes front and back plates to shield the torso during high-risk missions, side plates which will cover critical areas like ribs and abdomen, and Optional Groin and Neck Guards that provide added protection during specialised operations.
